Catholic Mission Australia teamed up with Catholic Religious Australia to produce a collection of brief reflections on Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium. I contributed an article on the Exhortation’s treatment of the social dimension of evangelisation. Read the book online here.
Pope Francis has said that the Church is not an NGO. In fact he has said it more than once. Why is he saying this? Is there something wrong with being an NGO? What does it mean for organisations like CatholicCare that are NGOs and also very much part of the Church? In this reflection for CatholicCare Sydney, I look at how the mission of a Catholic organization makes it more than just another NGO.
